Search Contacts
If you want to find a contact for whatever reason to view or edit, you can search via the Search Contacts and advanced options
Search Contacts definitions:
Advanced search: If you need to search for a contact outside the standard search fields, Advanced search allows you to search for contacts based on List, Segment, Field, Contact Activity and Custom Interactions.
Condition: In TractionNext a condition is a criteria.
Condition Group: You can chose to group conditions together to carry out more specific and detailed searches on contacts.
How to search Contacts:
- Click the Contacts tab
- Click Search Contacts page.
- Enter the contact's name, email, or identifier in the search bar and click Search.
- This will display a list of contacts relating to the search criteria entered
- If you need to search based on any other contact field, click on Advanced Search.
New Simple Search Mechanism: In order to enhance the search performance, a new option to define the searchable "Fields" from where the value will be searched in the database instead of searching in all the Fields is implemented. The required fields can be checked from the given ones.
How to do an simple search:
- Click the Contacts tab
- Click Search Contacts page.
- Click the drop down option
- This will display a list of fields that can be selected
- Select the required fields and then click the search button
- This will display a list of contacts relating to the search criteria entered
- If you need to search based on any other contact field, click on Advanced Search
You can perform a wild card search in the search bar. A wildcard search allows you to find contacts using patterns for a set of text. For example, by typing the word "trac" in the search bar, you will get a result of all contact records containing "trac" in the name, email or identifier fields.
How to do an advanced search:
The Advanced Search functionality allows you to search for contacts based on List, Segment, Field and Custom Interactions. If you wish to get all contacts in your account, simply hit search without entering any values in the search bar.
We have provided some specific examples below to outline how this is done:
Example 1) Search in Contact Field:
If you need to get contacts belonging to a particular email opt-in list, such as "Traction Digital Subscribers"
- Select Search Contacts
- Click Advance Search link on right
- Select a condition from the first drop down field
- Select criteria from the second drop down list
- Enter the required value in the textbox
- Once you have created your Advanced Search criteria, click on the Search button to display your results.
- You can also save your Advanced Search criteria by clicking on the Save button. This will save your criteria as a Segment.
Example 2) Search within Contact Segments:
If you need to get contacts related to particular segments. For example, if we want to know how many females aged 25 to 40 we have.
You can only search segments that you have previously collected data for.
- Select Search Contacts
- Click Advance Search link on right
- Select "In Segment" from the first drop down field
- Choose a segment from the second drop down list
- Once you have created your Advanced Search criteria, click on the Search button to display your results.
- You can also save your Advanced Search criteria by clicking on the Save button. This will save your criteria as a Segment.
Search Conditions
How to add another condition:
If you need to do even more complex or targeted searches, this is possible by selecting 'Add another condition' button to search against multiple combinations of Field, List, Segment or Custom Interaction criteria.
Within each condition group you can filter with "OR" or "AND" conditions. Continue to 'Add another condition' until you have the right combination to narrow down your search.
This will often start to make more sense as you go through and start selecting and building on your search conditions.
How to add a Condition group:
The condition group button lets you group multiple conditions together to form a single condition to retrieve the contacts. For example, you can create a condition group to retrieve contacts who have attributes from either of the two conditional groups:
All contacts who are female AND whose country is Australia OR
All contacts who are female AND whose age is below 30
In the above example, all females whose country is Australia is a result of adding two conditions together using the AND function. The same is true of all females who are below the age of 30. In this case, you are using the condition group feature to select contacts who meet either of the two groups (one group being females whose country is Australia and the other group being females who are below the age of 30).
