The TractionNext database is highly configurable, you can add any fields of data you want to capture. The following fields are already predefined in TractionNext so you do not need to add these:
- Name
- Surname
- Email address
- Mobile number
- Internal and external ID numbers
If however you wanted to collect specific data fields to then create more targeted campaigns you will need to create these fields in Contact Fields.
Contact Fields definitions:
Validation Type: There are three types of validation – None, Email and Mobile Number. Choosing email will validate value for a correct email in accordance with RCF email standards (e.g. should have @, .com, etc.). Choosing mobile number validation would check for valid mobile numbers based on country (currently supports AUS, IND, UK, and SGP). Choosing None means there is no data validation on the incoming data coming into the platform.
By default, the fields marked important will be shown in all search results. Fields that are not marked important will not be shown in any search results, though they can be exported and viewed.
Field Type: If you selected "None" in the validation field you need to then indicate the "Field Type" and you will see five field types to choose from in the drop-down menu.
Identifier: Fields marked identifier will be used to identify the contact, e.g. Email or Name. It is a match key to identify if an incoming contact record is unique or already exists in the database.
Text: Fields marked as Text will only accept text entries.
Number: Fields marked as Number will only accept numerical entries.
DateTime: Fields marked as DateTime will only accept date entries.
Boolean: Fields marked as Boolean will only accept "yes" or “no” entries.
If you create a DateTime field and select DateTime in the Precision value box, then the incoming record must contain both the Date and Time value so that it will not be rejected.
If you create a Text box, a Has Values tick box will appear. By clicking the Has Values tick box you can have predefined values.
How to create a new Contact Field:
- Go to Contacts in the top menu
- Select Contact Fields from the left menu
- Click Create Field
- Create the Field Name (e.g.: University attended), Validation Type of the attribute (e.g.: None) and the Field Type (e.g.: Text).
