Pass – New Features
This guide was designed to help you familiarize the pass features along with passes creation and launching.
What is Pass?
This pass feature is used to connect your business to billions of iPhone and Android users by digitizing and showcasing your loyalty programs, gift cards, offers, reservations, tickets, and so much more. We have an excellent feature to engage your customers anytime through location-based notifications, real-time updates and messaging.
Enhancements
There are multiple new features that have been added to the passes. Now, the features have been designed in such a way that the landing pages, forms, notification email & SMS are in-built which is more feasible to design the pass and use them. Each feature is explained in detail below:

1.1.1 Forms
These forms can be used as the triggering event to send email or SMS with the pass feature. There are two types of forms can be used in pass
- Subscription Form
- Collection Form
Subscription Form:
The subscription form can be used to assign a BARCODE when a contact does not have a BARCODE already assigned to them or is a new contact who is signing up. The platform can assign a BARCODE automatically and can send them the PASS link through Email or SMS channel.
How to Create it Subscription Form
- Click Pass module from top menu
- Click on create Pass in the left panel
- Select any Theme
- Enter the name and click on the 'Subscription Form' checkbox and then click 'Save & continue'
- On clicking the form checkbox, the Forms TAB will be enabled
- Go to Forms TAB
- Click subscription slider
- Select any anyone builder
- Add content to the form
- Click the save button
- The form will be saved and the new URL will be generated
The form can be downloaded and used in the below format
- Copy the form URL and load in the browser
- We can directly scan the QR code in the mobile and load the form
- We can download the QR code image and add the file in the email and use the form
- Existing form properties like short URL, embedded form and copy to word press is also available
Collection Form:
The Collection form can be used to allow the user to download the Mobile Pass when they already have a BARCODE assigned to them and just want to download their Pass through a link from the client's web site.
How to Create a Collection Form
- Click Pass from the top menu
- Click on create Pass in the left panel
- Select the any Theme
- Enter the name and click on the 'Collection Form' checkbox and click the 'Save & continue' button
- Go to Forms TAB
- Click collection slider
- Click on the “Create New“ button
- Select any builder
- Add content to the form
- Click the save button
- The Collection form is saved and the URL & QR code is generated
1.1.2 Landing Pages:
When any subscription or collection form is submitted, the respective landing page will be displayed with the option to download passes in the mobile. We can create a separate landing page for each form and use the insert passes function to insert them into the page.
How to create
- Click Pass from top menu
- Click on create Pass in the left panel
- Select the any Theme
- Enter the name and click on Collection Form/Subscription checkbox and click save & continue button
- Go to Forms TAB, Subscription or Collection
- Select the Landing Pages
- Click on “Create new”
- The corresponding builders are displayed. Enter the pass link and save the landing page(Passlink URL: [!downloadPass!]). The pass link token is case sensitive.
Note:
Additional Landing Page Scenario:
There are 2 types of landing page available in the platform
- The standalone landing page in the Form section
- Landing page inside the pass
When the pass is downloaded from the collection or subscription landing page, the reports will be displayed as expected. (Refer below image)
In this case, the reports section will also record the source as a standalone landing page,
1.1.3 Notification Email
The notification email will be triggered when the form is submitted. It is similar to the automation flow which triggers email when the form is submitted. The pass can be downloaded from this notification email. Email notification can be added in both subscription and collection form.
How to Create it
- Click Pass from top menu
- Click on create Pass in the left panel
- Select the any Theme
- Enter the name and click on Collection Form/Subscription checkbox and click save & continue button
- Go to Forms TAB—Subscription / Collection
- Click on Notification email Slider
- Enter the email details and give the pass link in the email content manually (Passlink URL: [!downloadPass!]) and save.
- The Email is saved successfully
1.1.4 Notification SMS
The notification SMS is similar to notification email. When the form is submitted the corresponding SMS will be triggered along with the email. The SMS is also available for both collection and subscription forms
How to create it
- Click Pass from top menu
- Click on create Pass in the left panel
- Select the any Theme
- Enter the name and click on Collection Form/Subscription checkbox and click save & continue button
- Go to Forms TAB—Subscription / Collection
- Click on Notification SMS Slider
- Click “Create New”
- Select the mobile number field from the drop down
- Enter the content along with pass token manually [!downloadPass!] à Save the content
Now the form, landing page, notification email, and SMS are created. The pass is moved to LIVE. Load the form URL and submit the form. Once the form is submitted the landing page will be redirected and email and SMS will be triggered
1.1.4 Barcode Upload
When the subscription form is added to the pass, the Barcode section will be displayed in the pass. Barcodes can then be uploaded and in-turn which can be assigned to the users directly. Unique barcodes will be assigned to each user. The barcode values will be stored in the contact field.
How to upload the Barcode
- Create a Pass with subscription Form(Repeat the steps from Subscription Form)
Go to Barcode TAB and Select 'Yes' Radio Button:
- Upload a csv/txt file, then click upload
- Assign a contact field value in the design section to allocate the barcode to the field
When the subscription form is submitted the barcode is allocated respectively to each user. The number of codes allocated will be displayed
When the same email address is submitted multiple times only one code will be assigned,
The Barcode section will not be displayed for collection form. When the collection form is added the barcode which is already stored in the contact will be retrieved in the pass.
1.1.5. Push Update by Form
Normally the Push updates in the pass are carried out in different ways via Manual, Schedule API and contact wise Push update. As a new feature, the push update by form is included additionally. In this case, the push update can be triggered after submitting the push update form
For Example: In the gym scenario, if a customer submits the subscription form with first name, address and email address, the pass will be triggered to the customer and he will be installing in his mobile devices. If the same customer wants to update his address in the pass, he has to submit his new address in the update form and the changes will be reflected in his passes respectively.
How to Create a Push Update Form
- Go to Push Update section
- Click on create new and add the form
- Add the Landing Page also with “Thank You” message
1.1.6 Configuration TAB
The final step in the pass creation is configuration TAB. Once the design, forms and codes are added to the pass, it is made active in the configuration TAB.
The respective certificate is selected in this section and the expiration date is also set,
Once the Push update form is submitted the installed pass will be updated automatically.
Note:
When the certificate is not uploaded in the account, you will not be able to move the pass alive.
1.1.7 Pass Summary Report
The existing pass report is redefined and displayed in a more detailed structure. The reports will be available for Active/ Stopped passes.
The downloaded, installed and removed count are displayed separately for more convenient purpose
Separate channels and sources including the pass subscription and collection email /SMS is included in the pass reports. Chart representation makes it easier to identify the maximum of pass installed via devices and channels . All the records will be displayed briefly.
Steps to View Pass Reports
- Navigate to LIVE/ Stopped pass
- Click on the report button
- The pass reports will be displayed
1.1.8 Pass Themes
Predefined Themes can be created for the Passes. The user-specific themes can be created by themselves and use multiple times as required. All the Forms, Landing Pages, Emails, SMS content can be designed easily in the theme section. When the pass is created using the created themes, all the items created before will be added into the pass automatically.
How to create a Theme
- The themes section will be available in the pass section itself
- Click Create Theme in the left panel
- Provide the name for the theme and select the category
- Click save and continue
- A separate section will be displayed for iOS and G-Pay
- Click on “Create New” for offer, coupon, Event pass types and add the content based on design
The content and design pop up will be displayed we can create the pass design and save it
- Once the pass section is completed, we can create the Form, Landing page, Email and SMS sections using HTML Code Editor as below:
The content will be saved in the builder window itself
The Created Theme will be displayed while creating the pass
When the theme is selected all the forms landing page email will created with the selected theme design,
